Will a boiling water tap work in my kitchen?

The four things your kitchen needs before a boiling water tap can go in, and what to do if one is missing.

Most kitchens can take a boiling water tap. Before we fit one we check four things, and you can check them yourself in a couple of minutes.

1. A plug socket under the sink

The tank heats the water, so it needs power. A standard 13 amp socket in the cupboard under the sink is ideal. If there is not one there, an electrician can add one, and it is worth sorting before your fitting day.

2. Room for the tank and filter

The tank and filter sit in the cupboard under the sink. As a guide, an INTU tank is about 19cm wide, 19cm deep and 26cm tall. QETTLE tanks come in 2, 4 and 7 litre sizes, so the space you have helps decide which one suits you.

3. A hole for the tap

The tap needs a 35mm hole in the sink or worktop. If you are replacing an existing tap, we normally use the same hole.

4. Hot and cold water supplies

Most 4 in 1 taps also give you normal hot and cold water, so they connect to both supplies under the sink, at the right pressure.

Not sure?

Take a photo of the open cupboard under your sink and send it with your enquiry. We will tell you if anything needs doing before we come.
